Clinician created, wearable ReaLifeSim products provide realistic, safe skills practice on real people and real animals (or manikins). The products are not classified as medical devices and do not require regulatory approval.

BGEI's Patented ReaLifeSim product line includes interactive and integrated wearable clinical education simulation training tools.

Commercially available: The current product lines provide high physical fidelity and versatility to teach proper hand positioning, IV catheter manipulation, patient interaction, and situational awareness in a variety of environments.

  1. RLSimVas-sleeve IV Trainers standard version are single or multi-vessel arm-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training arm to simulate the practice and performance of venipuncture and intravenous therapy with realism. To simulate a variety of options for different clinical situations, multiple venipuncture and intravenous infusion sites are provided: hand, radial aspect of the wrist and the antecubital area (elbow). Available in three sizes: adult, pediatric, infant.

  2. RLSimVas-sleeve IV Trainers advanced version with embedded sensors are single or multi-vessel arm-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training arm to simulate the practice and performance of venipuncture and intravenous therapy with realism. The RLSimApp is the first and only one of its kind with secure access to record, save, and store individual learner hands-on skills and provider-patient or team communication skills performance, with cloud syncing and remote student and instructor access for review, assessment, & feedback! App screen and facilitator web portal standard language localizations include English, French, German and Spanish. Available in adult size only.

  3. Simulated Blood Vessels (SBV) come in three sizes (long, standard, and narrow) prefilled with simulated blood. There are also two flow-through vessels for medication administration practice. Vessels are replaceable.

  4. Amoveo Subdermal Layer insert is an “add-on” (in adult size only) to put between the simulated skin and simulated blood vessels of wearable ReaLifeSim hybrid simulation IV/blood draw trainers.   5. Augmented Reality ReaLifeSim (AR-RLS) is a unique mixed reality solution, replicating real-world clinical skills training. Learners develop competence by combining AR and safe hands-on skills practice on a SP (or manikin) with authentic haptic, visual, and interactive feedback. To present realistic, interactive, immersive learning opportunities, the AR-RLS system uses: the wearable ReaLifeSim hybrid simulation IV Trainer, real-time digital information integrated into the individual’s visual environment, and a tablet or smart phone.

Testing in Progress:

  1. RLSimTrach is a bib-style healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training chest to simulate the practice and performance of performing emergency tracheotomy, tracheostomy care and tube replacement with realism. To simulate a variety of options for varied clinical situations, opportunities to practice stoma cleaning and assessment, cannula cleaning and replacement, and airway clearance by suctioning secretions with a ventilation check are provided. With RLSimApp, it provides hands-on skills and communication feedback.

  2. RLSimEJ&C-Line is a multi-vessel bib-style chest device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training chest to simulate the practice and performance of central line punctures and access for infusions with realism. To simulate a variety of options for varied clinical situations, jugular and subclavian puncture sites are provided. Vessels are replaceable. With RLSimApp, it provides hands-on skills and communication feedback.

In beta-stages of development:

  1. RLSimVirtual_Connection is designed to merge the practice and assessment of skills in an authentic setting with a virtual reality environment to create a dynamic mixed-reality learning environment. The person(s) being taught and assessed and/or additional standardized participants* will wear RLSim devices in an agent-based interactive environment to provide multi-sensory realism in competency-based simulation scenarios.

  2. RLSimHemoAccess is a multi-vessel arm-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training arm to simulate access in dialysis arteriovenous (AV) fistulas with realism. With RLSimApp, it provides hands-on skills and communication feedback.

  3. RLSimVas-hand is a single vessel glove-like healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training arm to simulate the practice and performance of venipuncture and intravenous therapy the dorsal aspect of the hand with realism. Vessels are replaceable. With RLSimApp, it provides hands-on skills and communication feedback.

  4. RLSimDVT is a single or multi-vessel leg-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training leg to simulate the practice and performance of assessing, identifying, and treating a deep vein thrombosis with realism.

  5. RLSimDistalBloodPoisoning is a single or multi-vessel foot/leg-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training leg to simulate the practice and performance of assessing, identifying, and treating blood poisoning as a result of a puncture or wound on the foot with realism.

  6. RLSimGangrene_Wound is a foot-sleeve healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training leg to simulate the practice and performance of assessing, identifying, and treating gangrene with a wound on the foot with realism. To simulate a variety of options for different clinical situations, multiple stages of wounds with & without drainage are provided.

  7. RLSimGlucGlove is a three-fingered glove healthcare education simulation device worn by a standardized participant or placed on a manikin/training arm to simulate the practice and performance of finger-stick glucose checks with realism. The fingertip puncture pads contain control fluids available to simulate multiple ranges of blood sugars* representing different clinical situations and are interchangeable. (*Solutions will also be available to check coumadin, cholesterol, & hemoglobin.)

VetReaLifeSim IV/Blood draw task trainers are a single or multi-vessel veterinary clinical education simulation device worn by an animal or placed on a robot or other simulated animal to simulate the practice and performance of venipuncture and intravenous catheter insertion with realism. To provide a variety of options for animals, we designed multiple sizes to accommodate jugular access and cephalic access on large and small animals, as appropriate. Vessels are replaceable. With RLSimApp, it provides hands-on skills and communication feedback. Available in four sizes: large animal neck, medium animal neck, medium animal leg, small animal leg.
